Martha Reeves was in resplendent form as the Motown hits came thick and fast - we weren't exactly 'Dancing In The Street' on this blustery Saturday afternoon, in a field at Goodwood - but there was indeed much to nod and mime to as the hits rang through the crowd. And as the audience joined in with classic's such as 'Quicksand', 'Jimmy Mack' and the cockle warming 'Heatwave'. Blues & Soul remembers thinking at the time how fitting it was watching Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, who like most of Motown, had a profound effect on the acts on this side of the pond. As Vintage is a celebration of all things great about the UK, you have to acknowledge the impact on our music and how it developed in the '60s and '70s - and through to today.
